Project Engineer

RPM Innovations, Inc., a leading industrial service company in the field of Directed Energy Deposition (DED) additive manufacturing, is accepting applications for the position of Project Engineer at its facility located in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Applicants should have at minimum a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field. Candidates should have good professional communication skills - both written and verbal. Other valuable skills include excellent computer knowledge, organizational, and solid decision-making.  Must be proactive and a team player.
Job duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Understand and apply all laser safety requirements for safe operation of the laser system and all associated support functions of this process.
  • Develop knowledge in the fundamentals of laser technology.
  • Support and contribute to the ongoing design and development of laser system hardware, software, and fixturing requirements as may be required and directed.
  • Develop knowledge in the area of software manipulation to program/assign tool paths for successful laser deposition applications as may be required and directed.
  • Develop written operating procedures that outline, define, and represent successful utilization of the laser system.
  • Perform pre-, in-process, and post-inspections of customer parts/components using portable CMM and laser scanner, as well as other traditional measuring devices and techniques.  Maintain associated documentation.
  • Support the facilitation and maintenance of all required company documentation and record keeping as directed.
  • Provide Quality Assurance functions to support both the engineering and production functional areas.
  • Support internal cross-functional development by contributing to the ongoing maturation of the company’s processes and procedures.
  • Support any special engineering projects as may be required.
  • Support the engineering responsibilities within a cross-functional management framework by effectively working and communicating with management and team members from all functional areas.
  • Develop proficiency in the use of CAD systems (Autodesk – Inventor, NX, etc.)
  • Develop the required knowledge to support and contribute to the development and maintenance of the Quality Management System and any associated responsibilities, as directed 
  • Understand and continue to improve programming and electrical systems.

Software Engineer

RPM Innovations, Inc., a leading industrial service company in the field of Directed Energy Deposition (DED) additive manufacturing, is accepting applications for the position of Software Engineer at its facility located in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Applications should have at least a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. Associates degree with experience will be considered.  Candidates should possess excellent coding and software design skills, communication skills - both written and verbal, PC skills, solid critical thinking and troubleshooting skills, and the ability to communicate and work in teams with other employees from different disciplines.

Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Analyze users’ and systems’ needs. Define requirements to meet those needs. Design, test, and develop software to meet the defined requirements.
  • Write programs in a variety of computer languages, including C#, VB.Net, PLC logic, and vendor proprietary languages.
  • Recommend software upgrades for existing programs and systems.
  • Update and expand existing programs.
  • Design various components of an application or system and plan how the components work together.
  • Create a variety of models and diagrams (such as flowcharts) showing the software code needed for an application.
  • Ensure that software applications continue to function normally through software development lifecycle.
  • Document every aspect of an application or system as a reference for future maintenance and upgrades.
  • Test programs for errors and fix the faulty lines of computer code.
  • Create and test code in an integrated development environment (IDE).
