Technical Sales Engineer

RPM Innovations, Inc., a leading industrial service company in the field of Directed Energy Deposition (DED) additive manufacturing, is accepting applications for the position of Technical Sales Engineer at its facility located in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Applicants should have at minimum a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field. Candidates should have good professional communication skills - both written and verbal. Other valuable skills include excellent computer knowledge, organizational, and solid decision-making.  Must be proactive and a team player.

Job duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Confer with customers to assess technical designs to qualify applications for additive manufacturing.
  • Review specifications and schedules to meet customer needs.
  • Generate inquiry documentation and subsequent job quotations.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and competitive pricing on all requests, while striving to maintain superior quality and maximum profit margin.
  • Secure purchase orders/contracts and write up internal job sheets as required.

Manufacturing Engineer

Job duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Understand and apply all laser safety requirements for safe operation of the laser system, and all associated support functions of this process
  • Develop knowledge in the fundamentals of laser technology
  • Support and contribute to the ongoing design and development of laser system hardware, software, and fixturing requirements as may be required and directed
  • Develop knowledge in the area of software manipulation to program/assign tool paths for successful laser deposition applications as may be required and directed
  • Develop written operating procedures that outline, define, and represent successful utilization of the laser system
  • Perform pre-, in-process, and post-inspections of customer parts/components using portable CMM and laser scanner, as well as other traditional measuring devices and techniques.  Maintain associated documentation

Software Engineer

RPM Innovations, Inc., a leading industrial service company in the western United States, is accepting applications for the position of Software Engineer at its corporate facility in Rapid City, South Dakota.
 
Qualified candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, mathematics, or information science. Candidates with equivalent work experience who have demonstrated skills in computer programming may also be considered.
 
General Responsibilities: Design, develop, and modify computer applications software or specialized utility programs. Analyze business & system requirements and develop software solutions to satisfy those requirements. Design or customize software with the aim of optimizing operational efficiency and reliability. Apply principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.

Job duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Develop software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle.
  • Interface with and control additive manufacturing hardware: laser, motion controller, motors, sensors, drives, etc.
  • Analyze requirements – line-of-business, use case, and technical – to acquire an integrated understanding of the additive manufacturing process.
  • Produce specifications and determine operational feasibility of the current specifications.
  • Determine design feasibility within time and cost constraints.
  • Design, develop, and modify software systems which provide predictable outcomes; the designs must always provide for operator safety.
  • Write well-designed, testable, efficient code which adheres to the SOLID principles.
  • Modify existing software to correct errors, allow it to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance
  • Develop and perform software verification plans and quality assurance procedures: regression tests, code reviews, design reviews, etc.
  • Demonstrate that the solutions meet the requirements by developing documentation; the creation of flowcharts, layouts, and diagrams; code comments and annotations; and producing clear, logical, and maintainable code.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of general programming skills such as: analyzing information; software design, debugging, and testing; software requirements and documentation specification; problem solving and teamwork skills; software development fundamentals; application lifecycle management; and agile methodologies.
  • Execute full lifecycle software development as part of a interdisciplinary team.
  • Improve operations by conducting systems analysis; recommending changes in policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate software system installation, including integrating software components into a fully functional software system.
  • Monitor equipment function to ensure specifications are met.
  • Write operating manuals or communicate effectively with the manual writer.
  • Obtain and license software by gathering required information from vendors; recommending purchases; testing and approving products.
  • Assist with technical specifications for computer related purchases.
  • Evaluate and recommend hardware and software solutions to improve the security and efficiency of company operations.
  • Update job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organizations.
  • Protect operations by keeping information confidential, the applicant will have access to industrial and trade secrets, thus protection of intellectual property is crucial.

Machine Support Technician

This is a great opportunity for individuals with a background in vehicle repair, mechanical systems, electrical systems, or building maintenance who want to grow their skills in advanced manufacturing.

What We’re Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Hands-on mechanical experience—vehicle mechanics, building maintenance, or similar trades are a great fit

Laser Process Technician

RPM Innovations, Inc., a leading industrial service company in the field of Directed Energy Deposition (DED) additive manufacturing, is accepting applications for the position of Laser Process Technician at its facility located in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Positions are available for all five shifts:
  • 1st Shift (7:00 am to 3:00 pm)
  • 2nd Shift (3:00 pm to 11:00 pm)
  • 3rd Shift (11:00 pm to 7:00 am)
  • Weekend Days (7:00 am to 7:00 pm F, Sa, Su or Sa, Su, M)
  • Weekend Nights (7:00 pm to 7:00 am F, Sa, Su or Sa, Su, M)

Applicants should have at minimum a high school diploma or equivalent. On the job training will be provided to acceptable candidates.  Other valuable skills include organization and solid decision-making.  Must be proactive and a team player.

  • Develop knowledge in the overall operation of the laser system to be able to safely and independently operate this system, as may be required and directed
  • Understand and apply all laser safety requirements for safe operation of the laser system and all associated support functions of this process
  • Safely handle parts and materials with appropriate industrial trucks, hoists, overhead cranes, and associated rigging
  • Apply knowledge in the fundamentals of laser technology, to effectively support the ongoing implementation of this technology as it relates to RPMI
  • Support and contribute to the ongoing design and development of laser system hardware, software, and fixturing requirements as may be required and directed
  • Assist in the development of written operating procedures that outline, define and represent successful utilization of the laser system
  • Assist in the development of written maintenance procedures that will allow for the consistent and successful utilization of the laser system
  • Perform pre-, in-process, and post-inspections of customer parts/components, and maintain associated documentation
  • Develop the required knowledge to support and contribute to the development and maintenance of the Quality Management System and any associated responsibilities, as directed 
  • Support the facilitation and maintenance of all required company documentation and record keeping, as directed
  • Prepare and mount metallurgical samples, as may be required and directed
